Consistency across pages
Compare the pages you check for menus in a different order, links with different names, help in a different place, and no search or site map.
Included in the Growth, Agency and Unlimited plans.
Updated for Lumtera 1.2.2 and Lumtera Pro 1.1.1.
Overview
Every scheduled check, and every desktop page check run as you, records what the page contains: its menus and their links, the names of header and footer links, help links such as contact, phone, email, FAQ or chat, and whether it has a search box or a site map link. Lumtera keeps this for up to 150 pages.
After each scheduled run, Lumtera compares the pages that still have a result. It looks for a repeated menu that lists its shared links in a different order, header or footer links to the same page with different names, help that sits in a different region or order, and no search box or site map on any page checked. At least two pages are needed.
Results appear in the Cross-page consistency card under Lumtera → Checks → Test sessions, with the number of pages compared and when. Each finding is marked Needs review, names up to three pages that differ and describes what most pages do. Press "Compare pages again" to run it now. The findings are stored as site-level findings, not on any one page.
Why does it matter?
People learn where things are. When the menu order changes from page to page, the same link has two names, or the contact link moves, people who rely on memory, magnification or a screen reader lose their way. These problems only show when you compare pages, which a single-page check cannot do.
What do you get?
- Menus that list their shared links in a different order (WCAG 3.2.3).
- Header and footer links to the same page with different names (WCAG 3.2.4).
- Contact, phone, email, FAQ or chat options in a different place or order (WCAG 3.2.6).
- No search box or site map link on any page checked (WCAG 2.4.5).
- Stored as site-level findings to review, and counted in the conformance report (ACR).
How does it work?
-
Check pages as usual
Scheduled checks and desktop page checks record each page's menus, header and footer links, help links and search.
-
Lumtera compares them
After each scheduled run, the pages checked are compared. You can also press "Compare pages again" on the Test sessions screen.
-
Review the differences
Each finding names the pages that differ and what most pages do, so you can decide whether the change is on purpose.
Who is it for?
-
Sites with several menus
A shop section or landing page with its own menu is easy to miss. The check shows where the order changes, so you can decide whether it is on purpose.
-
Footers edited over time
"Contact" on some pages and "Get in touch" on others is a common result of editing widgets and templates separately.
-
Preparing a conformance report
Open consistency findings count against their criteria in the conformance report, so a manual pass cannot mark a criterion Supports while they are unresolved.
Good to know
How it behaves, what it needs, and where its limits are.
- Plans and access
- Included in the Growth, Agency and Unlimited plans. The Test sessions screen needs the same permission as the Lumtera reports, editors and administrators by default. Page data is recorded on every plan, so comparisons are ready after an upgrade.
- The four checks
- Menus list their links in a different order on different pages (3.2.3). Links to the same page have different names on different pages (3.2.4). Help is in a different place on different pages (3.2.6). No search box or site map on the pages checked (2.4.5).
- Which pages are compared
- Pages seen by scheduled checks and desktop page checks. Phone results and signed-in checks are left out, because they are the same pages again or a different view.
- Switching checks off
- The four checks are listed under Lumtera → Settings → Checks with the others. A check switched off there reports nothing.
- Why every finding needs review
- A difference does not prove a failure: a section can have its own menu. Finding none does not prove consistency either, because only the pages checked are compared.

Questions
Something else on your mind? Contact support
Does no finding mean my site is consistent?
No. Lumtera only compares the pages it has checked, and some differences are on purpose. Confirm with the "Consistent across pages" checks in a test session.
How do I get more pages compared?
Add pages to scheduled checks, for example from your sitemap or a pasted list, or check them in your browser at desktop width. The next comparison includes them.
Can I change what counts as help?
Developers can change the help words with the lumtera_help_lexicon filter.
