Accessibility statement generator
Create an accessibility statement in the structure the W3C recommends, with the sections the European Accessibility Act expects and known limitations pre-filled from your own findings.
Overview
The statement generator is under Accessibility → Statement, for users who can publish pages. It asks for your organization name, a contact email, an optional phone number, an optional feedback form address and how quickly you aim to respond. Together, the email, phone and form make up the feedback mechanism the statement describes. The name and email start from your site settings, the response time starts at "5 business days", and your answers are saved for the next update.
Conformance status has four choices, each with a plain explanation: Partially conformant, described as the honest choice for most sites; Fully conformant, only after a full manual audit found no failures; Non-conformant; and Not yet assessed. The statement refers to WCAG 2.2 level AA. Optional fields cover the browsers and assistive technology you tested with, a disproportionate burden claim, and the enforcement procedure, with a link to the body that handles complaints where you operate.
Known limitations starts with up to five checks that have open errors on your published content, each with its WCAG criterion, for you to rewrite in plain language. Two dates, Statement first prepared and Last reviewed, are printed at the end of the page. Click Create draft statement and Lumtera builds a page from ordinary Heading, Paragraph and List blocks and opens it as a draft. Nothing goes live until you publish it yourself.
Why it matters
An accessibility statement tells visitors what to expect and how to report a problem, and the European Accessibility Act expects many businesses to explain how their services meet accessibility requirements. Writing it from scratch — honestly — is a job most site owners put off.

- What the page contains
- A commitment paragraph, conformance status, feedback and contact details with your response time, known limitations, technical specifications, optional compatibility, the assessment approach, optional disproportionate burden and enforcement procedure sections, and when the statement was prepared and last reviewed.
- Optional sections stay out when empty
- Disproportionate burden, the enforcement procedure and compatibility appear only when you fill them in. Claim a disproportionate burden only if you have assessed it: name the content, explain why, and say what accessible alternative you offer.
- A yearly review reminder
- When the statement was last reviewed more than a year ago, the Statement screen says so and asks you to check the known limitations and contact details. Leave Last reviewed empty and it becomes today when you update the draft.
- Your edits are protected
- If you edit the draft by hand and later click Update draft statement, Lumtera keeps your version and creates a new draft instead of overwriting it.
- Live pages are never changed
- Once the statement is published, updating it creates a new draft. The live page stays as it is until you publish the new one.
- It does not assess you
- The status you choose is your own claim. Lumtera does not decide conformance, and it does not add the page to your menus; link to it yourself, usually from the footer. Naming Lumtera as the testing tool is optional and off by default.

Does publishing a statement make my site compliant?
No — it tells visitors where you stand and how to reach you. It works best when it is honest about limitations, which is why Lumtera pre-fills them.
Which standard does it use?
WCAG 2.2 level AA. There is no setting for another standard or level; edit the draft page if you need different wording.
Is a statement from Lumtera enough for the European Accessibility Act?
It gives you the structure and the sections, but the content is yours: what it says about conformance, limitations and burden must be true, and the enforcement body depends on your country. Check it with your own advisers. A statement does not by itself make a site compliant.
Does it update itself after I fix issues?
No. Your saved answers, including the limitations text, are reused as you left them. After fixing issues, edit Known limitations and click Update draft statement.
