1 role on Personal and Growth; any number of roles on Agency and Unlimited.

Updated for Lumtera 1.2.2 and Lumtera Pro 1.1.1.

Overview

Signed-in checks is a card on the Page checks screen, under Lumtera → Checks → Page checks. Choose a role under Add a role and press Add role; Customer is suggested. Lumtera creates a dedicated test user for that role. Personal and Growth can check one role; Agency and Unlimited can add as many as you need. Roles that can edit content or manage the site, such as Editor or Shop manager, are not listed.

For each role, tick the WooCommerce Shop pages to check: My account, Cart and Checkout. Checkout only shows its form when the cart has something in it, so you can choose "Put a product in the test user's cart". It goes into the test user's own cart; no order is placed and your customers' carts are not touched. Add other addresses under "Other pages to check as" the role, one per line, then press Check these pages now. Turn on "Also check at phone width" to check them at phone width too.

Each page opens with a one-time pass: signed with the site's secret key, bound to that address and test user, valid for 120 seconds and used once. The test user can only make GET requests; POST, PUT and DELETE requests are refused. The page is never cached and no sign-in cookie is sent. Results appear with the others, marked "Signed in as" the role, and a Show filter separates them.

Why does it matter?

The pages customers and members rely on most, such as their account, cart and checkout, look different once they sign in. A logged-out check never sees them, and checking them as an administrator shows the admin's view, not the customer's.

What do you get?

  • Pages checked as a dedicated test user for each role you add: one role, such as Customer, on Personal and Growth, and any number of roles on Agency and Unlimited.
  • WooCommerce My account, cart and checkout ready to tick, plus your own list of pages per role.
  • A one-time pass per page that expires after two minutes and lets the test user only view pages.
  • Optional runs as part of scheduled checks, with alerts on new errors.
  • Results marked "Signed in as" the role, in Page checks, client reports and the conformance report.

How does it work?

  1. Add a role

In the Signed-in checks card, pick a role such as Customer and press Add role. Lumtera creates its test user.

  2. Choose its pages

Tick the shop pages, add other addresses, and choose whether a product goes in the test user's cart so checkout shows its form.

  3. Check them

Press "Check these pages now", or leave "Include in scheduled checks" on to check them with every run.

Who is it for?

  • WooCommerce stores

Check My account, the cart and the checkout form as a real customer sees them, at desktop and phone width.

  • Membership and course sites

Add the role your members have and list the members-only pages, so the pages people pay for are checked too.

  • Agencies with client stores

Include signed-in pages in scheduled checks so a plugin update that breaks the checkout triggers an alert.

Good to know

How it behaves, what it needs, and where its limits are.

Plans and access
One role on Personal and Growth; any number of roles on Agency and Unlimited. Only administrators can add roles and run signed-in checks. People who can see Page checks see the results with the others.
How the test user is kept safe
It has no email address and a long random password nobody is shown, and it cannot sign in on the login page. It is not listed on the Users screen. Remove it with Remove test user at any time; deleting Lumtera Pro removes it too.
Pages it will not open
wp-admin, the login page, the REST API and addresses that do something when opened, such as add-to-cart, remove-item or log-out links, are refused when you add them, with the reason, and the save message says how many addresses were not added. On an https site, a one-time pass is never sent over plain http.
Scheduled signed-in checks
With "Include in scheduled checks" on, scheduled runs also open the role's pages as the test user, counted in your plan's pages per run. They run on behalf of the administrator who last saved the settings, and pause if that person can no longer manage the site.
Only confirmed results are kept
A result is saved only when the page says it was rendered for the test user. If a page redirects to the login page, or a cache answers instead, nothing is stored and the reason is shown.

Questions

Something else on your mind? Contact support

Can the test user change anything?

It is built not to. It can only open pages: any request that tries to send a form as the test user is refused. Roles that can edit content or manage the site cannot be used.

Are forms tested on signed-in pages?

No. The test user never sends forms. Form tests run on pages checked as you, with their own safety guard.

Do signed-in pages count in consistency checks?

No. Consistency across pages compares what visitors see, so only logged-out results are compared.

Where do signed-in results show up?

In Page checks, the client report, the conformance report (ACR), which names the roles checked, and the evidence pack.
